Ruby Named AHC Goaltender of the Month

ROCHESTER, NY – Senior goaltender Jordan Ruby (Tavistock, Ontario/Wellington Dukes) of the RIT men’s hockey team was named the Atlantic Hockey Conference Goaltender of the Month for December, 2014, on Wednesday, Jan. 7. It is Ruby’s first AHC Monthly honor.

Ruby was excellent in goal for the Tigers in December, stopping 54-of-56 shots (.964 save percentage) as RIT went 1-0-1. On Dec. 12, he made 24 saves, including a handful from in close in the second period while RIT was protecting a 2-1 lead. The Tigers would defeat Niagara 4-1. On Dec. 13, Ruby made 30 saves in a 1-1 tie against the Purple Eagles.

Ruby is currently 4-4-3 this season with a 2.22 goals against average and .920 save percentage. He was named the AHC Goaltender of the Week on Dec. 16.

The Tigers return to action this weekend as league foe American International comes to the Gene Polisseni Center. Friday and Saturday’s contests get underway at 7:05 p.m.
