RPI’s Polino Named ECAC Player of the Week

TROY, N.Y. – ECAC Hockey has announced its weekly award winners from men’s hockey and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) student-athlete Patrick Polino has been named Player of the Week.

A senior forward from Buffalo, N.Y., Polino led the Engineers to a 1-1 weekend, recording two goals and three assists for a team-high five points. Both of his tallies came on the power play, while one was a game-winner. He registered seven shots and was 2 for 3 on face-offs. In RPI’s 7-2 victory over Canisius on Saturday, he posted one goal and three assists for four points.

Polino leads the Engineers in scoring through four games this season, netting three goals, with three assists for six points. The former Lincoln Stars standout has recorded team-highs in power play goals (2), power play points (3), game-winning goals (1), goals per game (0.75), assists per game (0.75) and points per game (1.50). He has nine shots and a 33.3% shooting percentage, with a blocked shot and one minor penalty for two minutes.

Last season, Polino had seven goals and four assists for 11 points in 24 games. In 11 ECAC Hockey games, he scored six goals and assisted on another for seven points.

Through 101 career games at RPI, Polino has 16 goals and 23 assists for 39 points.

The Engineers (2-2-0) return to the ice this weekend, when they open ECAC Hockey play with a home-and-home series with area-rival Union College, beginning on Friday at Messa Rink in Schenectady (7pm). The series concludes at the Houston Field House on Saturday (7pm).
