TROY, N.Y. – ECAC Hockey has announced its weekly award winners in men’s hockey and three Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) student-athletes have been recognized. Riley Bourbonnais, Jason Kasdorf and Evan Tironese were named Player, Goaltender and Rookie of the Week, respective, after helping the Engineers to a 1-1 week, including a victory over previously first-ranked Boston College on Sunday.

A junior forward from Rochester, N.Y., Bourbonnais scored two goals, including the game-winning in Rensselaer’s 2-1 victory over first-ranked Boston College on Sunday at the Houston Field House. He recorded two shots and registered a plus/minus rating of plus-1 in the game.

Last season, Bourbonnais notched five goals and eight assists for 13 points. A former member of the Lincoln Stars, he was issued 14 penalties for 28 minutes. In 22 ECAC Hockey games, he had four goals and four assists for eight points. His season was highlighted by recording a hat trick against Union College on October 31, 2014.

A senior out of Winnipeg, Man., Kasdorf made 36 saves, including 16 in the first period in the Engineers’ win over the Eagles. He also had 35 stops against 14th-ranked UMass-Lowell on Friday.

On the season, Kasdorf is 1-1 with a 2.00 goals against average and a .947 save percentage in 119:49 minutes of action. The former Des Moines Buccaneers standout went 11-19-2 last season, with a 2.97 goals against average and a 2.97 save percentage in 33 games.

A freshman who hails from Qualicum Beach, B.C., Tironese assisted on both of Rensselaer’s goals on Sunday, playing in his first collegiate game. He finished with two shots, a +1 rating and two penalties for four minutes.

Tironese played parts of three seasons for the Alberni Valley Bulldogs before attending RPI. In his final full year there, he had 19 goals and 39 assists for 58 points in just 51 games. He also spent a year with the Green Bay Gamblers, picking up 10 goals and 28 assists for 38 points in 56 games.

The Engineers (1-1) are back in action this weekend, when they travel to Fairbanks, Alaska, for the Brice Alaska Goal Rush. RPI takes on Alaska-Anchorage on Friday (8:07pm ET) and the tournament hosts from Alaska-Fairbanks on Saturday (11:07pm ET).
