THE LAST FRONTIER: The Engineers head to Fairbanks, Alaska, this weekend for the Brice Alaska Goal Rush, which begins on Friday … RPI faces Alaska-Anchorage on Friday at 8:07pm ET and the hosts from Alaska-Fairbanks on Saturday at 11:07pm ET.

ANY GIVEN SUNDAY: Junior Riley Bourbonnais scored two goals and senior goaltender Jason Kasdorf stopped 36 of the 37 shots he faced to lead RPI to a 2-1 victory over then-No. 1 Boston College on Sunday at the Houston Field House … Freshman Evan Tironese picked up two assists for the hosts … The Eagles lone goal was scored by Zach Sanford … Junior goalie Thatcher Demko finished with 26 saves for BC.

RPI DROPS OPENER AT LOWELL: The Engineers were shutout by 14th-ranked UMass-Lowell, 3-0, on Friday night at Tsongas Center … Three different goal-scorers paced the River Hawks, including Evan Campbell, who had a goal and an assist … RPI senior goaltender Jason Kasdorf made 35 saves, including 15 in the second period … Sophomore blueliner Jared Wilson notched an team-high six shots for Rensselaer.

EARLY TESTS: For the second year in a row, the Engineers faced the first-ranked team in the nation in the opening weekend of the regular season … RPI fell to then-#1 Minnesota, 3-0, in the IceBreaker Tournament last year … In 2013-14, RPI took on #4 Boston College in its opening weekend and took on #11 Ferris State to begin the 2012-13 season.

TIRONESE EFFECT: Playing in his first collegiate game, freshman Evan Tironese assisted on both of RPI’s goals in its win over then-No. 1 Boston College on Sunday.

MOORE OFFENSIVE: Due to injuries at the forward position, freshman Meirs Moore has suited up as a forward in each of Rensselaer’s first two games.

EARLY POINTS LEADERS: Junior Riley Bourbonnais has scored both of RPI’s goals through two games this season … Freshman Evan Tironese has two assists, while junior Parker Reno and sophomore Jared Wilson have one helper each.

BETWEEN THE PIPES: Senior Jason Kasdorf has started both games this season and is 1-1 with a 2.00 goals against average and a .947 save percentage.
