HANOVER, NH – The RIT women’s hockey team (2-6-4) skated to a 2-2 draw on the road Dartmouth College (2-5-1) from Thompson Arena Saturday afternoon.

Mallory Rushton (Amherst, Nova Scotia/New Hampton Prep) and Brooke Baker (Saline, MI/Saline) scored for the Tigers, while Brittney Gout (Caledon, Ontario/Brampton Canadettes) assisted on both goals. Goaltender Terra Lanteigne (Hatchet Lake, Nova Scotia/Charles P. Allen) was brilliant between the pipes, stopping a season-high 48 of 50 shots to earn the tie.

Rose Falzone and Chloe Puddifant scored for Dartmouth. Goaltender Christine Honor made 25 saves, including five in overtime.

Dartmouth held a 50-27 edge in shots on goal. The Big Green was 0-for-6 on the power-play, while RIT was 0-for-4.

“We are looking to establish our identity and feel we took a step in the right direction this weekend,” said Bruce B. Bates Women’s Hockey Coach Chad Davis. “If we continue to get strong goaltender and can generate more offense on special teams, hopefully some of the ties and one-goal games will end up in the win column. I am proud of our effort and desire to win.”

RIT led 1-0 after the opening period of play, despite Dartmouth holding a 12-8 edge in shots. Rushton took a feed from Tori Haywood (Pickering, Ontario/St. Mary’s Catholic) and snapped one in for her first goal of the season with 4:32 left in the opening period to open the scoring.

Dartmouth fired 20 shots on Lanteigne in the second period and was able to tie the game on a goal by Falzone right before the midway point.

Baker would give RIT a 2-1 lead just 21 seconds into the third period, putting a shot past Honor for her first goal of the year. Gout and Taylor Baker (Toronto, Ontario/North Toronto Collegiate Institute) drew assists on the goal.

Puddifant drew Dartmouth even once again with 9:25 left in regulation. RIT out-shot Dartmouth 5-1 in overtime, but could not get the winning goal.

Dartmouth leads the all-time series, 3-2-1. Five different Tigers found the back of the net and Lanteigne made 41 saves in a 5-1 win last night.

RIT returns to action on Friday, Nov. 16 at College Hockey America foe Syracuse. Opening faceoff is at 7 p.m.
