RIT Hockey Players Earn All-Atlantic Hockey Honors

ROCHESTER, NY – Sophomore defensemen Brady and Chase Norrish (Strongfield, Saskatchewan/Yorkton Terriers), along with senior forward Josh Mitchell (Osoyoos, British Columbia/Alberni Valley Bulldogs) earned 2015-16 All-Atlantic Hockey honors, as the league announced its regular season all-conference teams on Wednesday, March 9. Chase Norrish (Strongfield, Saskatchewan/Yorkton Terriers) was a first team selection, while Brady Norrish (Strongfield, Saskatchewan/Yorkton Terriers) and Mitchell were third team picks.

Chase Norrish (Strongfield, Saskatchewan/Yorkton Terriers) is enjoying a breakout season, leading all RIT defensemen in scoring with 20 points on seven goals and 13 assists, while playing in 29 games. He was the Atlantic Hockey Defensive Player of the Week on Jan. 5 and finished with 18 points in 23 league contests. In two seasons, Chase Norrish has 32 points on eight goals and 24 assists in 68 games.

Brady Norrish (Strongfield, Saskatchewan/Yorkton Terriers), an All-Atlantic Hockey second team pick and All-Rookie Team selection a year ago, is enjoying another excellent year for the Tigers in 2015-16, with 16 points on six goals and 10 assists while playing in all 34 games. He was the Atlantic Hockey Defensive Player of the Week on Nov. 2 and recorded 15 points in 28 Atlantic Hockey contests. In two seasons, Brady Norrish Brady Norrish has 38 points on 10 goals and 28 assists.

Mitchell, who was also an All-Atlantic Hockey second team selection in 2014-15, leads RIT in scoring this season with 32 points on six goals and 26 assists in all 34 games played. In league play, Mitchell all players with 25 assists. He has come on over the second half of the year with 24 points in 18 games. Mitchell is fourth all-time at RIT in the Division I era with 86 assists and fifth with 117 points. He is 13th among all active players in scoring.

RIT, the No. 5 seed in the Atlantic Hockey Postseason Tournament, begins postseason play by heading to No. 4 Mercyhurst for a best-of-three quarterfinal series that gets underway on Friday, March 11. The two teams will meet for game two on Saturday and if necessary, game three on Sunday. All games will start at 7:05 p.m.
