Reed And Schnepp Named To D3hockey.com National Team Of The Week

UTICA, NY- Senior Morgan Reed (Fort Myers, FL/Cushing Academy) and junior Gabrielle Schnepp (Northville, MI/Belle Tire) of the Utica College women’s hockey team were named to the D3hockey.com Team of the Week, released Tuesday.

Schnepp earned a spot on the top team for her impressive start to the season. She is currently tied for second in the nation with linemate Morgan Reed (Fort Myers, FL/Cushing Academy) with an average of 2.75 points per game and has totaled four goals and seven assists through the first three games. Three of her goals came on the power-play, which ties her for the national lead, and she is +7 on the year as the Pioneers jumped out to a 4-0 start to the season. She has two assists in each of her last three games and is in the midst of a four-game scoring streak.

Reed is tied with Schnepp for second nationally in points per game (2.75). She has 11 points on four goals and seven assists and she is a +8 on the season, which leads the team. Reed, Schnepp and freshman Lauren Patterson (Burlington, Ontario/Oakville) are all tied for the national lead with an average of 1.75 assists per game. Reed posted a two goal, three assist effort in last weekend’s sweep of William Smith, and has registered a point in all four games she’s played in this season.

The Pioneers (4-0, 2-0 ECAC West) face a big test this weekend as they take on conference foe, Oswego State. The teams will faceoff in Oswego on Saturday, before returning to Utica Sunday to wrap up the series at the Aud. Game time is scheduled for 3 pm. both days.
