Potsdam Women’s Hockey Sweep Cortland

POTSDAM, N.Y. – Karley Cree scored with three minutes, 53 seconds left to lift host Potsdam to a 2-1 victory over Cortland in an ECAC West matchup.

The Bears completed a weekend sweep of the Red Dragons and are now 6-8-1 overall and 4-6-1 in the conference. Cortland fell to 1-6-1 in the league and 2-10-1 overall.

Cortland grabbed a 1-0 lead 3:57 into the game on an unassisted power-play goal by senior Gwen Paul (Incline Village, NV/San Jose Sharks). Potsdam tied the game on a Jaci Morr goal, assisted by Brenna Wilson, 3:49 into the second period.

Cree scored the game-winning goal – her first tally of the season – 16:07 into the third off assists from Kaylen Van Wagner and Amanda Peterson.

Potsdam goalie Alexane Rodrigue stopped 28 of the 29 shots on goal she faced for the victory. Cortland sophomore Kelly Farinella (Marlton, NJ/New Jersey Rockets) started in goal and finished with 31 saves as Potsdam outshot the Red Dragons, 33-29.

Cortland will travel to Hamilton College for a non-league game on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
