DANBURY, Conn.-The SUNY Potsdam women’s hockey team has been picked to finish sixth in the 2015-16 Eastern College Athletic Conference West Preseason Poll. The Bears totaled 39 points in the the poll, which is voted on by the conference’s 10 head coaches. Two-time defending national champion SUNY Plattsburgh was picked to win the league with 99 points. The top six teams in the ECAC West qualify for the playoffs.
Potsdam finished the 2014-15 campaign with a 9-15-1 record (5-12-1 ECAC West). The Bears finished seventh in the conference and narrowly missed the playoffs for the first time in four years.
Potsdam opens this season at Saint Michael’s on Oct. 30, with a 7 p.m. contest against the Purple Knights.
