Plattsburgh State’s Joey Mancuso Named PrestoSports Men’s Ice Hockey Rookie of the Week

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Sophomore forward Joey Mancuso (Pottstown, Pa./Connecticut Jr. Rangers) of Plattsburgh State has been named the PrestoSports Men’s Ice Hockey Rookie of the Week for the period ending on Sunday, Nov. 7, as announced by the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC).

Mancuso earned his first SUNYAC weekly award after tallying three goals on a hat trick, one assist, four points and eight shots on goal to help Plattsburgh State to a 1-0-1 record on the week. 

Mancuso began the week by scoring the Cardinals’ first three goals of the game for a hat trick in a 6-5 overtime victory against SUNY Cortland on Friday night at the Ronald B. Stafford Ice Arena. Two of the goals against Cortland came on the power play. 

He then concluded the week by tallying an assist on the Cardinals’ second goal during Plattsburgh State’s 2-2 overtime tie with Oswego State on Saturday night, at the Ronald B. Stafford Ice Arena.   

Plattsburgh State (2-1-1) continues SUNYAC play with a road game against SUNY Geneseo at 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 12, at the Ira S. Wilson Ice Arena.
