Ottawa Signs Puempel To Two-Way Contract

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. – The Ottawa Senators announced that the club signed forward Matt Puempel to a one-year, two-way contract. The contract will carry an annual value of $900,000 in the National Hockey League and $75,000 in the American Hockey League.

Last season, Puempel played 34 games with the B-Sens, recording 17 goals, 13 assists, and 15 penalty minutes. The 23-year-old appeared in 20 games with Ottawa, registering two goals and helping with an assist.

A native of Essex, Ont., Puempel has four goals and two assists in a total of 39 NHL games, all with Ottawa. The Senators’ first-round pick (24th overall) in the 2011 NHL Draft has played in 170 AHL games with Binghamton, scoring 50 goals and assisting 51 more.
