Ottawa Inks Phil Varone To One-Year Contract

BINGHAMTON, NY – The Ottawa Senators announced today that forward Phil Varone has re-signed to a one-year, two-way contract. The contract will carry an annual value of $700,000 in the National Hockey League and $325,000 in the American Hockey League.

Varone was acquired by the Senators on February 27 from the Buffalo Sabres. In his final 21 games of the season with Binghamton, the Vaughan, ONT native recorded six goals and 23 points in 21 games.

On April 9, Varone was recalled to Ottawa and recorded an assist. Varone has played in 43 career National Hockey League games with Ottawa and Buffalo, recording five goals and 10 points.

In 327 career AHL games with Rochester and Binghamton, the 25-year-old has scored 74 goals and added 173 assists for 247 points, while adding 192 penalty minutes.
