It was a game of back-and-forth, as the Lakers took the lead and the Pilgrims came back to tie it two separate times. Oswego eventually finished off the contest by scoring four unanswered goals in the final 11 minutes of play to seal the victory.

Jacquelin White started the scoring, putting Oswego on the board early with an unassisted goal in the ninth minute of the contest. It was the Royal Oak, Michigan native’s first-career goal. She returned to score again in the 19th minute of the third and was assisted by Olivia Ellis.

After New England College tied up the contest prior to the end of the first period, Laura Thacker took on the job of giving Oswego back the lead. At 15:06 in the second stanza, the junior forward tallied the goal to put the Lakers back in front.

New England College again tied the game, this time at 2-2 just 12 seconds into the final regulation period. Julieann White and Eryn Stewart answered the Pilgrim goal by scoring back-to-back goals just three minutes apart. The goals were the first of each player’s careers.

Alli Ullrich continued the scoring outburst with one of her own on a power play at 15:55. The senior received the puck from classmate Kendall Appelbaum and junior forward Andrea Noss.

Oswego’s offense was clicking on all cylinders throughout, especially in the final period. The team took 41 shots coming off the sticks of 16 players.

Amber Samonek played the entire game in goal for Oswego and saved 16 shots.

Women’s ice hockey will return to action tomorrow afternoon at 3 p.m. for a contest at Castleton University.
