Oswego Women Fall to Castleton

The Oswego State women’s ice hockey team fell 2-0 to Castleton State College on the road in its season-opener. Oswego goes to 0-1-0 on the early season.

The Lakers were neck-and-neck with the Spartans through one period, ending the first 20 minutes in 0-0 tie. Laker goalie Bridget Smith recorded 15 saves to keep the game even through one.
Castleton opened the scoring in the second period, scoring short-handed 5:43 into the period. The Spartans tacked on another a little less than five minutes later to make it 2-0 which would hold up for the remainder of the game.
Oswego was able to get 28 shots on net with Alli Ullrich and Olivia Ellis pacing the squad, firing four shots apiece .
Smith finished the night with 32 saves for the Lakers, just two shy of a career-record.
