UTICA, NY – The Utica College women’s hockey team lost 1-0 to visiting Oswego State in ECAC Women’s West Conference play on Tuesday night at the Utica Memorial Auditorium.

The lone goal of the evening came on the power-play just 21 seconds into the second period when Oswego freshman forward Andrea Noss tipped home her fifth goal of the season off assists from Alli Ullrich and Kendall Appelbaum. Oswego goalie Bridget Smith made 27 saves in her fifth shutout of the season.

The Pioneers threatened late and outshot the Lakers 9-6 in the third period but Smith and the Oswego defense fended off three Utica power-plays to earn the one goal victory.

The Lakers have now won three in a row and improved to 14-4-1 overall and 10-3-1 in the ECAC West. The Pioneers have lost two of their last three games as their record dropped two 6-8-4 overall. Both teams recorded 27 shots on the afternoon.

Utica goalie Keira Goin (Dobbs Ferry, NY/Hotchkiss School) made 26 saves as her record moved to 4-5-3 on the year.

The Pioneers return to the ice this weekend when they host Chatham University in a two game conference set at the Aud. The Pioneers host the Cougars on Friday at 4 p.m. and Saturday at 2 p.m.
