BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The Oswego State men’s ice hockey team earned their 16th win of the season on Friday night, defeating Brockport 3-1 on the road. The win marks the sixth-straight victory for the Lakers and improves their record to 16-2-3 overall and 11-1-1 in the SUNYAC. With the loss, Brockport falls to 10-10-2 overall, 4-7-2 in the conference.

After a scoreless first period, Shawn Hulshof got the ball rolling for the Lakers with a goal 3:37 into the second. The goal was scored on the power-play, with assists coming from Alex Botten and Mitchell Herlihey. Neither Oswego nor Brockport were able to put the puck in the net for the remainder of the second period, allowing the Lakers to take its 1-0 lead into the second intermission.

The eventual game winner came just 17 seconds into the third, as the Lakers top assist man, Botten, switched roles and scored an unassisted goal to give Oswego a 2-0 lead. The men would add one more in the third as Krystian Yorke netted his seventh goal of the year with assists from Mike Wills and Josh Timpano.

Brockport would add a goal of their own, but to no avail as the Lakers closed out yet another SUNYAC matchup with a win.

Matt Zawadzki recorded 33 saves for the Lakers, ending the night with a save percentage of .970.

Oswego will be back on the ice at 7 pm on Saturday as they travel to Geneseo for a rematch of last year’s SUNYAC final.
