Two members of the Hobart College hockey team were honored by the ECAC West this week. Junior forward Mac Olson (Grosse Pointe, Mich.) was tabbed the conference Player of the Week, and first-year goaltender Frank Oplinger (Sewickley, Pa.) was named to Co-Goalie of the Week.

Olson led the Statesmen with three points on three goals in a 1-1-0 weekend at Nazareth. On Saturday, in a game that was 0-0 headed into the third period, Olson notched both of Hobart’s goals to lead the Statesmen to the 2-1 victory. He also added a goal on Friday night. Olson has posted seven goals and 10 assists for 17 points this season. He has chipped in at least one point in each of the last seven games. Olson ranks second in the ECAC West with three game-winning goals. He is tied for eighth in goals, ranks ninth in points, and is tied for 12th in assists.

Oplinger played all 60 minutes in the win over the Golden Flyers on Saturday. He stopped 33 of the 34 shots he faced, allowing Nazareth’s one goal with just 1:30 left in regulation. Oplinger improved to 5-2-0 in goal this year. He’s sporting a 2.72 goals against average and a .916 save percentage this season.

The Statesmen will be back in action at The Cooler this weekend. Hobart will host Neumann for two ECAC West games at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
