VOTING BEGINS FOR SCOTIABANK OJHL FAN FAVOURITE AWARDS

Twenty-two team recipients also being honoured in 8th annual competition

Mississauga, ON – The Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL) announced that voting begins today for the eighth annual Scotiabank Fan Favourite Award – with a new local twist.

On top of honouring a league-wide winner, Scotiabank Fan Favourites on each of the 22 teams across the OJHL – as selected by the fans – will be honoured in every OJHL community.

“Scotiabank has been a great partner with our Fan Favourite Award and we are extremely happy to have them return in 2018-2019,” said Marty Savoy, Commissioner of the OJHL, “and we are excited to be able to extend this program to our markets across our league with a team winner.”

Scotiabank’s commitment to the sport of hockey is very evident with all it does at the grass roots level, Savoy said.

The Scotiabank Fan Favourite Award was presented for the first time following the 2011-12 season and has OJHL fans vote online to choose their favourite OJHL star.  All fans will be allowed to submit players names in an online form found on the homepage of the OJHL website, www.ojhl.ca.  The winner will be the player that receives the most submissions (votes) through the course of the online voting.

Voting begins Dec. 21 and will end at 5 pm EST on Feb.15, 2019.

The winner of the eighth annual Scotiabank Fan Favourite Award will be honoured during an OJHL Awards Ceremony with details to follow.

Member OJHL Team winners will be honoured in on-ice ceremonies during the final OJHL regular season home game or the first home play-off game in all 22 member communities during February. Local Scotiabank officials will take part in the presentations.

Last year saw a record 83,885 votes cast. Through seven years of Scotiabank Fan Favourite Award balloting, close to 300,000 votes have been registered.
