NYSPHSAA Semis: Division II Queensbury vs Pelham

“A Cinderella Team” was the buzz around the arena prior to this game. That being said Pelham had stopped a 65-game winning streak going on by Skaneateles and qualified for the States. Pelham had been ranked second in the State, behind Skaneateles with a 6-2-1 record.

They didn’t disappoint. Within 40 seconds of the first period Pelham scored two goals. The first on a power-play by Henry Smith, assisted by Luke Green; the second by Ben Rosenberg, assisted by Zyde Karame.  Pelham added three more before the end of the first. By 16:19 of the first Pelham had three shots on goal with two goals. The continued adding three more to end the period 5-0. Scoring the additional three were Louy Marcellino, Griffin Evans and another for Rosenberg. Assists went to Green, Karame, Rosenberg, Evans, Marcellino, Eric Elbery.

Second period opened with Pelham having 6 seconds left on a penalty. Queensbury opened the scoring with an unassisted goal by Nick Ogden. This was to be their only score in the game. Pelham added two more taking the second to a 7-1 end. Goals were scored by Angus Deeney, assisted by Marcellino anbd Rosenberg; Karame, assisted by Griffin Evans and Rosenberg.

With no scoring in the third the game ends 7-1 and Pelham moves on to the finals. 

Dylan Bell stopped 34 of 41 shots for Queensbury and in net for Pelham was Jack Mallinson, who stopped 12 of 13.

Sportsmanship honorees were Stephen Deutsch for Queensbury and Henry Smith for Pelham.
