MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Colonial Hockey Conference (CHC) announced today its first selection of player of the week honors for 2016-17, naming Morrisville State College’s Maddison Devlin (Campbell River, British Columbia) the Rookie of the Week for the week ending October 30.
The conference also named sophomore forward Stephanie Strymecki (Kelowna, British Columbia) to its honor roll for the week.
Devlin registered a four-point weekend behind one goal and three assists to kick off her freshman season, playing a vital role in a 2-0 weekend for the Mustangs.
In the opener against Nichols College at the Buffalo State Tournament, Devlin posted three assists in the 9-0 victory, and followed with her first collegiate score on Saturday against Plymouth State. Her efforts earned her a spot on the All-Tournament Team as Morrisville State were crowned the Bengal Invitational Champions.
Devlin is a graduate of Earl Marriott Secondary and is majoring in criminal justice at Morrisville State. She is the daughter of Wendy and Vince Devlin of Campbell River, British Columbia.
Strymecki opened her sophomore campaign with a hat trick in a dominating 9-0 victory over Nichols College before adding an assist in a 3-0 win over Plymouth State the following day to capture the Buffalo State Bengal Invitational Tournament Title.
The graduate of Kelowna Secondary is majoring in individual studies at Morrisville State. She is the daughter of Sue and Dale Strymecki of Kelowna, British Columbia.
