Justine Reyes scored two goals and Hannah Miller (pictured above) notched her 100th career point to lead the St. Lawrence University women’s hockey team to a 5-1 win over Union College on Saturday afternoon in Schenectady, New York.

Reyes scored the Saints’ first two goals to give St. Lawrence 1-0 and 2-1 leads, with Miller assisting on the second goal at the 10:14 mark of the second period for her 100th career point. She later added another assist on the Saints’ fourth goal and now has 35 goals and 66 assists in 109 career games.

St. Lawrence jumped out to an early lead, with Reyes cashing in on assists from Kayla Nielsen and Lydia Grauer just 94 seconds into the game.

Union’s Haley Shugart tied the game just one minute into the second period, but Reyes’ 10th goal of the season put St. Lawrence ahead for good.

Nadine Edney, who scored the lone goal in the Saints’ 1-0 win over Rensselaer on Friday night, Skylar Podvey and Rachael Smith added insurance goals in the third period to put the game away. Grauer assisted on three goals for career highs in both assists and points.

“We were able to finally pull away in the third period,” said head coach Chris Wells ’92. “We had some great chances early and in the second. It was a good way to finish the 2017 calendar year. A gutty win last night and one tonight where a number of players were rewarded for their efforts.”

The eighth-ranked Saints outshot Union 47-9. Grace Harrison made eight saves to post the win in goal for St. Lawrence. Coco Francis took the loss for Union, allowing four goals on 34 shots. Kate Spooner played the final 13:32 and made 12 saves and allowed one goal for the Dutchwomen.

St. Lawrence improved to 9-6-3 overall, 6-3-1 in ECAC Hockey with the weekend sweep. Union fell to 4-12-2, 3-5-0.

The Saints now have three weeks off for exams and holidays and will resume the 2017-18 season on January 5-6 with a pair of games against Lindenwood in Anaheim, California.Mill
