CORTLAND, N.Y. – Senior Ryan Patrick (Morgantown, WV/Philadelphia Rebels) scored a pair of third-period goals as the Stevenson men’s hockey team skated to a 2-1 victory versus Cortland Friday afternoon in non-conference action at Alumni Arena. The Mustangs improved to 8-2-1 on the season, while the Red Dragons fell to 5-3-1.

Sophomore Nate Berke (Williamsville/Buffalo Jr. Sabres) netted a power-play goal for Cortland with senior Ethan Homitz (Allison Park, PA/New Hampshire Monarchs) and junior Trevor Veneklase (Brentwood, TN/Seahawks Hockey Club) collecting assists. Senior goalie Owen Zdunski (Findlay Lake/Chippewa Steel) made 30 saves in his first start of the season.

Sophomore Frank Vitucci (Yardley, PA/Alabama-Huntsville) recorded two assists, and freshmen Malcolm Palmer (Westerville, OH/Lone Star Brahmas) and Liam McCanney (Aidan, PA/Northeast Generals) each chipped in with one assist for Stevenson. Junior goalie Ryan Kenny (Sparta, NJ/Islanders Hockey Club) turned aside 46 shots.

Plattsburgh State Men’s Ice Hockey Tops SUNY Potsdam, 1-0, on Casella Teddy Bear Toss Night

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. — Sophomore forward Thomas Maia (Mississauga, Ontario/Nanaimo Clippers) scored at 14:27 of the third period and sophomore goaltender Anthony Del Tufo (Livingston, N.J./Philadelphia Revolution) recorded his first career shutout to lead Plattsburgh State men’s ice hockey to a 1-0 win over SUNY Potsdam during Casella Teddy Bear Toss Night at the Ronald B. Stafford Ice Arena on Friday night. 

Plattsburgh State (6-4-1, 4-2-1 State University of New York Athletic Conference [SUNYAC]) next hosts No. 6 Norwich University in a non-conference game at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 7. Potsdam plays a non-conference game at Saint Michael’s College tomorrow at 7:30 p.m. 

AIR FORCE RALLIES TO DOWN CANISIUS COLLEGE

Air Force tallied three goals in a 5:02 span late in the second period to erase a two-goal deficit and defeat Canisius, 5-2, in Atlantic Hockey Association action Friday at the United States Air Force Academy’s Cadet Ice Arena.

Andrew Kruse, Andrew DeCarlo and Luke Rowe scored during the pivotal second-period stretch for the Falcons (5-9-1, 3-5-1 AHA) while Willie Reim accounted for both third-period tallies as Air Force notched five unanswered goals to snap a three-game losing skid. Alex Schilling made 13 saves in goal. 

Junior Keaton Mastrodonato and sophomore Connor Zilisch scored for the Golden Griffins (8-7-1, 5-4-0 AHA). Junior goaltender Jacob Barczewski got the start and made 25 saves before being replaced by junior John Hawthorne in the third. Hawthorne finished the contest with 10 saves.

COFFEY’S OT TALLEY SENDS HOBART PAST SKIDMORE           

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.—Hobart College defender Blake Coffey scored just over two minutes into overtime to lift the fifth-ranked Statesmen past Skidmore 4-3 in a New England Hockey Conference contest at the Saratoga City Rink this evening. With the win, the Statesmen are now 7-1-1 overall this season with a 4-0-1 record in conference play.
 
Coffey patiently circled the net and beat Tate Brandon with a wrist shot for his second goal of the season. Jonah Alexander notched an assist on the goal. It was Hobart’s first overtime victory since a 2-1 win over Oswego on Oct. 29, 2017.
 
Coffey led the way for the Statesmen with a goal and an assist in the victory. In total, ten skaters earned a spot on the score sheet. Joe Halstrom started and played all 62:03 minutes in goal for Hobart, making 27 saves.
 
Kaeden Patrick had a pair of assists for Skidmore (4-4-1, 1-3-1). Brandon started in goal and made 38 saves for the Thoroughbreds

RPI BLANKED BY QUINNIPIAC

TROY, N.Y. – Freshman goaltender Yaniv Perets stopped all 18 shots he faced to lead the fourth-ranked Quinnipiac University men’s hockey team to a 2-0 victory over Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), on Friday night at the Houston Field House. With the win, the Bobcats improve to 11-1-3 overall (4-0-1 ECAC Hockey), while the Engineers drop to 6-8-2 (3-4-0 ECAC Hockey).
