Kennedy Marchment recorded her first career hat trick to lead the No. 6/7 St. Lawrence University women’s hockey team to a 4-0 win over Harvard in an ECAC Hockey game on Saturday afternoon at Appleton Arena.

Marchment, who entered the game tied for first in the nation in scoring with 2.00 points per game, now has six goals and 11 assists on the season for 17 points for the Saints, who remain unbeaten at 7-0-1 overall, 2-0-0 in ECAC Hockey.

Marchment got the Saints on the board early, scoring her first goal of the game just 35 seconds into the first period. She took a pass from Brooke Webster at center ice and skated the puck up the right side of the ice, beating Harvard goaltender Brianna Laing with a shot between the legs.
Alex Moore’s first goal of the season gave the Saints a 2-0 lead at the first intermission. Playing the point on the power play, Moore crept in to the top of the left faceoff circle and one-timed a feed from Kalie Grant low into the far side.

Marchment scored her second goal of the game on a deflection on a blast from Moore at the point near the end of the second period, and she got the hat trick with less than three minutes to play, wristing a drop pass from Brooke Webster past Laing low on the glove side.
Grace Harrison made 19 saves to post her second consecutive shutout, her third on the season; Laing stopped 26 shots for Harvard, which was outshot 30-19. The Crimson fell to 1-2-0 both overall and in ECAC Hockey.

The Saints, who are off to their best start since winning eight straight games to start the 2005-06 season, go on the road next weekend to face ECAC Hockey rivals Princeton and Quinnipiac.
