PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Sophomore Karly Kapur (Sparta, N.J./Sparta High School) scored her first goal of the season, and freshman Rose Pijaca (Worcester, Mass./Worcester Academy) recorded her second career shutout as the Manhattanville College women’s ice hockey team picked up a conference win against Plymouth State Friday night.

Kapur took over the top spot in points on the with the goal, recording her tenth point of the season after starting the year with a team-high nine assists. Her goal gave Manhattanville (6-9 overall, 4-5 NEHC) an early lead midway through the first period. Freshman Jordan Roetzer (Buffalo, N.Y./Niagara Junior Purple Eagles) expanded the lead late in the period, scoring her fifth goal of the season on the power play as the Valiants took a 2-0 lead into the first intermission.

Pijaca was outstanding in goal once again for Manhattanville, making 18 saves en route to her second shutout of the season. The freshman improved to 3-2 on the season, lowering her goals against average to 1.69 and improved her save percentage to .946, moving into a tie for eighth place nationally.

The Valiants will be back in action tomorrow afternoon as they travel to New England College at 1:00 P.M.
