It was an up and down weekend for the Lockport Express organization as both the Junior A team and 18U team walked away with one win and one loss each. It all started on Saturday when the 18U team beat the Buffalo Regals 6-3 at Holiday Twin Rink.

The entire team what Coach Lyle Rocker called the best game the team played all season. The hustle and heart was on display by all players which was crucial since the Express were short benched for the game.

Unfortunately the Express Jr A team could get the same magic as the 18U’s and lost to Syracuse 3-2. Lockport outplayed Syracuse the entire game but just got snake bit and couldn’t find that tying goal to give them a chance.

Newcomer Brendan McFall scored his first goal as a member of the Express which captain Frank Vecchio added the other Express goal. Sunday was a different day however as the Express steamrolled Syracuse 5-1. Ryan Logar and Chris Gasiewicz both had 4 points each in the win and Brendan McFall had his second of the season for the Express.

Goalie Tim Schiess had a terrific game in net stopping 22 of Syracuse’s 23 shots. The 18U team played right after and hoped to carry on the same magic from the day before and from the Jr A win against Bud Bakewell.

But the 18U team fell 4-3 but they gave 100% effort throughout the entire game. The express had a ton of chances in the final minute but couldn’t quite squeeze out the goal the needed. The Jr A team is off this weekend and the 18U team has a game against Clarence the Friday at 9:10.
