This weekend the Lewis County Cobras earned the title of Champions on the Shiver on the River PeeWee Tournament hosted by the Thousand Islands Youth Hockey Association.

The entire team played with heart, and the win was definitely a team effort. Goals were scored by Jared Beyer and Devin Maurer; who earned a hat trick, scoring three goals in one game. Goalie Emma Roy and the Cobra’s defense held off almost every Potsdam shot on goal. In a hard fought championship game battle against the PeeWee’s of Potsdam; the Lewis County Cobras clinched the title with a 4-2 win.

New Head Coach Matt Zehr took over the PeeWee team when the Returning Head Coach Dane Hylen was unavailable to finish out the season. Coach Zehr and the entire coaching staff are proud of how well the team played in both the championship game and in all the games leading up to that big win. The defenseman did a great job keeping the puck in the Potsdam’s End Zone and the Offense worked for repeated shots on goal.

The Pee Wee team consists of players from the South Lewis and Lowville School Districts, but the Lewis County Amateur Hockey Association accepts players from all districts in and around Lewis County, including Boonville and Carthage. For more information please visit www.lewiscohockey.org
