From Randy Schultz, Ed. of NY Hockey OnLine – “If you are looking for that last minute Christmas gift, go to Amazon.com for this book. Yes, I know it really has nothing to do with NYS hockey. But for many of us who grew up near the Canadian border in the 1960s and 1970s, Goldham was a fixture on ‘Hockey Night In Canada.'”

The following is an Amazon description of the book.

For the first time, the entire story of five-time Stanley Cup champion defenceman Bob Goldham is told. His NHL career began with a bang in 1942, as he was a major part of the Toronto Maple Leafs historic Stanley Cup final victory against Detroit.

In addition to the Leafs, Goldham skated for the Chicago Black Hawks and the Detroit Red Wings. He played an important role in the Red Wings Cup dynasty in the 1950s. Goldham’s unique talent for blocking shots resulted in him being called hockey’s second goalie.

After his retirement, he coached junior A hockey and later became a studio analyst and colour commentator on Hockey Night in Canada. Bob Goldham recorded many of his personal and professional memories and these are revealed in Bob Goldham Outside The Goal Crease.

ENDORSEMENTS: “I was fortunate to have watched Bob play with the Stanley Cup Detroit Red Wings. He was such an integral component of those championship teams. Later on, I started my coaching career with Peterborough when Bob was the head coach at St. Mike’s. I always regarded him as a great friend and adversary. Your book has brought back many fond memories.” (Scotty Bowman – holder of NHL coaching records for most Stanley Cups, regular season wins and playoff wins.)

“Bob Goldham – – Outside the Goal Crease is a super look at an underrated player I followed from his rookie year in Toronto. Author Jim Amodeo has done a service to hockey history by chronicling the life of a defender who belongs in the Hockey Hall of Fame. I especially liked the manner in which Amodeo noted Goldham’s role in helping Toronto to the greatest comeback in NHL playoff history. It was a job well done by Bob and now well-re-created by Jim Amodeo.” (Stan Fischer – author, historian & broadcaster)

“Jim Amodeo has ensured that Bob Goldham’s hockey legacy, both on the ice and in the broadcast studio, is not forgotten with his meticulously researched and crisply written biography, ‘Bob Goldham: Outside the Goal Crease.’ I thoroughly enjoyed the wonderful trip back in time to visit a very special era from hockey’s wonderful history.” (Kevin Shea – author & historian.)

“In his new book ‘Bob Goldham – Outside the Goal Crease,’ author Jim Amodeo has shone a long-overdue spotlight on one of the defensive pillars of the ‘Original Six.’ A winner of five Stanley Cups, Bob Goldham’s story has gone overlooked for far to long … until now. Simply put this is an essential addition to the library of any self-professed hockey fan.” (Todd Denault – author & historian)
