Lanteigne Sets Career-High With 59 Saves In Loss To Robert Morris

PITTSBURGH, PA –The RIT women’s hockey team (4-6-1, 1-2-0 CHA) fell to No. 10 Robert Morris (8-1-2, 3-0-2 CHA) 6-1 in College Hockey America conference play, on the road from Colonial Arena on Friday evening.

Shots were 65-16 in favor of Robert Morris. Terra Lanteigne (Hatchet Lake, Nova Scotia/Charles P. Allen) took the loss for RIT, despite making a career-high 59 saves. She now has 109 saves in her last two contests Kaelyn Johnson (Toronto, Ontario/Mississauga Chiefs) scored RIT’s lone goal in the second period. Brittney Gout (Caledon, Ontario/Brampton Canadettes) and Mallory Rushton (Amherst, Nova Scotia/New Hampton Prep) added assists for RIT.

Brittany Howard led the Colonials with four points on two goals and two assists. In net, Elijah Milne-Price had the win for Robert Morris with 15 saves.

In the first period neither RIT or Robert Morris could find the back of the net. Christa Vuglar (Crystal Lake, IL/Chicago Mission) had one of the best chances for RIT just before the midway point of the period. Vuglar burst into the Colonials zone and fired a shot that was stopped by Milne-Price.

Robert Morris started the second period on a power play after a cross-checking penalty on RIT at the end of the first. Just 48 seconds into the second Robert Morris’s Emily Curlett scored with the man-advantage to put the Colonials up 1-0. With just under seven minutes into the second Kirsten Welsh gave the Colonials a 2-0 lead.

Johnson would answer right back for the Tigers and cut the deficit to 2-1 with a goal off assists from Gout and Rushton. The goal was Johnson’s second of the season

Robert Morris would pull away in the third period, scoring three times in a span of 2:03. Howard would score back-to-back goals, while Amber Rennie and Lexi Templeman completed the scoring.

Robert Morris now leads the series between the two schools 14-10-3. The two teams also meet tomorrow and at RIT on Jan. 19-20, 2018.

The Tigers and Colonials finish off the weekend series Saturday from Colonial Arena at 3:05 p.m.
