Kassi Abbott Named NEWHL Goalie of the Week For 4th Time This Season

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – For the fourth time this season and for the third consecutive week, senior Kassi Abbott (Medford, Mass./Boston Shamrocks Elite) of the Plattsburgh State women’s ice hockey team has been selected as the Northeast Women’s Hockey League (NEWHL) Goalie of the Week, earning the distinction for the period ending Dec. 2, 2018.

This is Abbott’s eighth career NEWHL Goalie of the Week honor.

Abbott backstopped the Cardinals in a NEWHL weekend sweep of Oswego State by authoring a .964 save percentage and a 0.56 goals-against average. She took over sole possession of fourth in career shutouts (15) in the program’s record book with a 22-save effort in a 4-0 victory over Oswego on Friday. Abbott then made five stops in a 6-1 win over the Lakers on Saturday.

For the year, Abbott ranks second in NCAA Division III in save percentage (.982), goals-against average (0.33) and shutouts (6).

Plattsburgh State (8-1-0, 6-0-0 NEWHL) next hosts Morrisville State College in a non-conference contest on Wednesday, Dec. 5, at 7 p.m.
