The St. Michaels Buzzers tried to dig themselves out of a three-goal hole, but the Buffalo Jr. Sabres held on for a 7-6 victory.

A goal by Tim Nicksic put Buffalo up 7-4 in the third period, but St. Michaels pulled to within one on Colton Trumbla’s tally 15:32 into the third period.

The Jr. Sabres bested their season scoring average. This season, Buffalo averages 4.3 goals per contest.

The Jr. Sabres were led by Bryce Ferrell, who had three goals. Buffalo also got points from Nicksic, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Aaron Reinig, who also grabbed one goal and two assists. Zach Evancho also scored for Buffalo. More assists for Buffalo came via Nicholas Bondra, who had three and Christopher Berger, Wilson Vershay, Brenden Dunning, Dylan Seitz, David Baskerville, Griffin Lunn, Ryan Cox, and Ryan Wheeler, who each chipped in one.

The Buzzers surpassed their usual scoring output this season. St. Michaels averages 3.3 goals per game.

The Buzzers were led by A.J. Dorazio, who registered one goal and one assist. Dorazio scored 4:49 into the first period to make the score 1-0 St. Michaels. Noah Jordan picked up the assist. St. Michaels additionally got points from Thomas Beretta, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Cameron Wright, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Others who scored for St. Michaels included Lucas Breault and Sean Kohler, who each put in one. In addition, St. Michaels received assists from Cameron Searles, who had two and Austin Clapham, Mike Pellegrini, Finn Evans, and Michael Andlauer, who contributed one each.

Buffalo’s Brian Kowalski stopped 16 shots out of the 22 that he faced. The Jr. Sabres incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Jacob McGrath made 22 saves for St. Michaels on 29 shots. The Buzzers incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
