BROOKLYN – The New York Islanders have named Claude Loiselle to the position of Hockey Operations Consultant.

Loiselle served as a hockey operations consultant with the Arizona Coyotes in 2015-16. The Ottawa, Ontario native was part of the Toronto Maple Leafs organization from 2010-14, most recently serving as Vice President and Assistant General Manager. He served as Assistant General Manager with the Tampa Bay Lightning from 2005-2009 and was Associate Director, Hockey Operations with the National Hockey League from 1998-2005.

On the international stage, Loiselle was on the management team of Canada’s 2015 IIHF World Championship gold-medal team.

“Claude brings decades of management and player evaluation experience to the Islanders and we’re excited to add him to our team,” Islanders President and General Manager Garth Snow said.

Loiselle first joined the Islanders as a player in 1991-92, marking his first of three straight seasons with the club. Drafted by the Detroit Red Wings in the second round (23rd overall) of the 1981 National Hockey League Draft, Loiselle went on to play 13 seasons in the NHL from 1981-1994. In addition to the Islanders, he played for the Red Wings, New Jersey Devils, Quebec Nordiques and Toronto Maple Leafs. The Ottawa, ON native collected 209 points (92G, 117A) in 616 career games.

Loiselle earned his law degree from McGill University in 1998, the same year he was admitted to the New York State Bar.
