The Hudson Valley Community College hockey team (8-8) defeated SUNY Broome Community College (7-7) 7-2 on Saturday afternoon.
The Vikings scored the first five goals of the game to cruise past SUNY Broome in a five-goal victory. Sean Spohr (Westfield/Westfield, MA) led the team with four goals, and Nick VanLiew (Ballston Spa/Ballston Spa) added 2 goals. With the win, Hudson Valley secures a spot in the National Tournament held at SUNY Broome on February 27 and 28.
The hockey team hosts Mohawk Valley to close out Regional play on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
