Earning Travel Team USA Weekly Award honors for the week ended October 17, 2017 are Canisius’ Nick Hutchison, RIT’s Brady Norrish and Logan Drackett, and Sacred Hearts’ Brett Magnus.

Player of the Week

Nick Hutchison – Canisius
Sophomore, Forward – Hicksville, NY/Salmon Arm Silverbacks

Hutchison recorded three goals in two games against Robert Morris as Canisius split with the Colonials. Hutchison scored the Golden Griffs’ first goal in Friday’s contest, igniting a three-goal comeback which tied the game at three in the third period. Canisius would go on to lose that game, however, but Hutchison was key as the Golden Griffs rebounded to earn their first win of 2017-18. He scored two goals in Saturday’s, 4-1 victory over Robert Morris.

Defensive Player of the Week

Brady Norrish – RIT
Senior, Defense – Strongfield, SK/Yorkton Terriers

Norrish led a RIT defense that held the top-scoring team in the nation, then-No. 14 Northeastern, to three goals Saturday night. He had an assist on one of Erik Brown’s two goals on the night, but his greater value came in the defensive zone as he blocked a team-high five shots. RIT would go on to tie Northeastern, 3-3.

Goalie of the Week

Brett Magnus – Sacred Heart
Junior, Goalie – Montreal, Quebec / Powell River Kings

Magnus backstopped the Pioneers to a win against UConn, their in-state rival, in Sacred Heart’s only game of the week. Magnus made 44 saves agains the Huskies and allowed one goal in the 3-1 victory. It was the second-highest save total of his career and his third-straight victory over UConn.

Rookie of the Week

Logan Drackett – RIT
Freshman, Goalie – Calgary, AB/Calgary Canucks

Drackett, making his collegiate debut, was tremendous in a 3-3 tie against No. 14 Northeastern at Blue Cross Arena Saturday night, stopping 41 of 44 shots. He stopped 16 shots in the first period, 11 in the second and 14 in the third.
