UTICA, NY- Sophomore Samantha Husak (Jackson, MI/Grass Lake) of the Utica College women’s hockey team was named to the D3hockey.com National Team of the Week, released Tuesday evening.

Husak totaled two assists in Utica’s 5-0 win over Cortland in the ECAC West Conference quarterfinals on Thursday. One of her helpers was a great end-to-end rush as she picked the puck up behind the Utica net and skated it the length of the ice before sending a backhand pass on the tape of Victoria Pelton (Sterling Heights, MI/Belle Tire) for Pelton to send in her third of the year.

On the season, Husak has totaled nine points (two goals seven assists), which is just one point shy of her career-high. She also ranks second amongst defensemen with a +16 plus/minus rating.

The Pioneers travel to Plattsburgh State for the ECAC West final four this weekend, facing off against No. 2 Elmira College in the semifinals on Saturday (12 p.m.). The winner will face either Plattsburgh or Oswego in the Championship on Sunday.
