BUFFALO, N.Y. (February 18, 2016) — USA Hockey will be hosting its ninth annual Hockey Weekend Across America from Feb. 19 to 21. The weekend event is celebrated across the nation, and the Buffalo Sabres will be participating this year by helping the Officiating Program coordinate a “Meet & Shadow the NHL Officials” event.

As part of the event, two 17-year-old officials from Western New York will have an opportunity to meet the NHL referees and linesmen before Buffalo’s game against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Sunday, Feb. 21 and stay to watch the game.

Buffalo’s 12:30 p.m. game against Pittsburgh will also be aired on NBC as part of the station’s triple-header that day, with each game featuring a matchup of two American NHL teams.

On the national level, Hockey Weekend Across America has a theme for each of the three days during the weekend. Firday is “Wear Your Favorite Jersey Day,” Saturday is “Try Hockey Day,” and Sunday is “Celebrate Local Hockey Heroes Day.” For more information, please refer to the attached USA Hockey press release.
