Hobart Hockey Announces Captains

Hobart College Hockey Head Coach Mark Taylor recently announced that seniors Ben Gamache (Longlac Ontario), Mac Olson (Grosse Pointe, Mich.), and Bo Webster (Aurora, Ontario) will serve as captains for the 2015-16 season.

As an alternate captain last season, Gamache played in 27 games, posting seven goals and 11 assists for 18 points. He finished the season tied for seventh in the league with two game-winning goals and tied for 15th in assists. Gamache has been named to the ECAC West All-Academic team for the last two years in a row and garnered all-conference honorable mention in 2013-14.

Olson, also an alternate captain in 2014-15, played in 22 games. He ranked fourth on the team with 19 points and 10 assists. Olson finished the year tied for fourth in the ECAC west with three game-winning goals. He was also tied for 14th in the league in goals and tied for 15th in points. Olson has been a member of the ECAC West All-Academic team two years in a row, earned all-conference second team honors in 2013-14, and all-rookie honors in 2012-13. He was named the ECAC West Rookie of the Year as a first-year.

Last season, Webster led the team in points and assists with 25 and 17, respectively. He played in all 28 games. Webster finished the season tied for third in the conference in assists, tied for fifth in points and power-play points (12), and tied for seventh in power-play goals (4).He was named to the All-ECAC West second team for his efforts. Webster also has garnered a spot on the league’s all-academic team for two years in a row.

The Statesmen finished the 2014-15 campaign with a 21-7-0 record, tying the program record for wins in a season and earning their fifth NCAA tournament appearance in program history. Hobart captured its third ECAC West tournament title with a 2-1 overtime win over Neumann. The Statesmen were ranked No. 10 in the final USCHO.com poll of the season.
Hobart begins the 2015-16 season with a non-league game at Babson on Oct. 30 at 7 p.m.
