SCHENECTADY, NY – First year forward and Minnesota native Cheyenne Harris scored her third goal of the weekend in a 2-1 loss to Minnesota St.-Mankato Saturday afternoon at Messa Rink.

Harris’ goal came in the third period as Union trailed the Mavericks 1-0. At the 8:22 mark of the period, the puck fell to Harris right at the goal mouth as a slapshot from McLaren deflected right to Harris and she slid it past the goalie tying the game.

McLaren and Katelynn Russ were credited with assists on the play.

The game seemed to be destined for overtime until Lindsey Coleman got out on a breakaway. She dropped the puck back to Anna Keys who picked her spot and beat Amelia Murray to put MSU-Mankato up 2-1 at 18:42 of the third period.

Murray made 25 saves in the losing effort.

Mankato’s other goal came in the second period as they converted on the powerplay at the 17:30 mark. Emily Antony scored to break the 0-0 deadlock off assists from Corbin Boyd and Lindsey Coleman.

Union is back in action on Jan. 6th when they play host to Yale University at 6:00 p.m. at Messa Rink.
