GENESEO, N.Y. – SUNY Geneseo senior forward Dan Bosio scored a pair of goals and junior goalkeeper Matt Petizian made 24 saves as the Knights took down Oswego, 6-1, to win their fourth-consecutive State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Championship on Saturday night at the Ira S. Wilson Ice Arena. 

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Geneseo opened the scoring with 7:52 to play in the first period when junior forward Justin Cmunt ripped a low slap-shot near post to put the Knights ahead 1-0. 
  • The Knights broke the game open in the second period as first-year forward Peter Morganscored followed by a pair of goals from Bosio to extend the lead to 4-0. Oswego scored just before the intermission to cut into the lead, 4-1. 
  • In the third period, senior forward Henry Cleghorn saucered a shot on goal that squeaked in, making it 5-1 with under three minutes to play. Senior forward Brendan Milleradded an empty net goal in the final seconds to seal the game. 

QUICK FACTS

  • Geneseo earned its fourth-consecutive SUNYAC title, defeating Oswego in the championship game for the third-straight season. Bosio was named Tournament MVP while Petizian and senior defenseman Chris Perna joined him on the All-Tournament Team. 
  • Perna and junior defenseman Alex Wilkins each finished with two assists while forward Bryan ZurowskiDomenic Garozzo and defenseman Matthew Doran each tallied one assist as well. 
  • Bosio recorded his second-straight multi-goal game and his sixth of the season. Cmunt tallied his ninth power play goal of the season and 17th goal overall while Morgan also scored his 17th goal of the year.
