Former Rochester American and Buffalo Sabres defenseman Rory Fitzpatrick won the 2021 election to become the new Town Supervisor in his native hometown of Irondequoit,

He won by 380 votes among 12,030 cast in his first run for public office.

He tweeted out the morning after Election Day “A huge thank you to everyone who has supported me and the campaign! A truly humbling experience. I will do my best to get back to everyone who is calling and texting. Much Love. I will wait for final results to make an official statement. ONE IRONDEQUOIT !!”

Fitzpatrick had a 16-year professional career including parts of ten season in the NHL with six different teams.
