Ferraro & Marshall Lead Manhattanville Men’s Hockey’s All-MAC Awards


FANNVILLE, PA. – Seven members of the Manhattanville College men’s hockey team were named to the 2018-19 All-Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) team, including four first-team selections, as announced by the conference Wednesday morning, Feb. 20.

Senior defenseman Marco Ferraro (Toronto, Ont./St. Michael’s Buzzers (OJHL)) was named Defensive Player of the Year and First Team All-Conference, finishing the year with eight goals and 14 assists. The senior finished third on the team with 22 points, while also leading the Valiants in plus-minus and blocked shots. Head coach Arlen Marshall was named Coach of the Year after leading Manhattanville to the MAC Championship and a 15-7-3 regular season record.

Senior forward Matt Lippa (Richmond Hill, Ont./Oakville Blades (OJHL)) was named to the All-Conference First Team, leading the Valiants with 15 goals, 22 assists and 37 points. This season, Lippa broke the Valiants’ all-time goals record that had stood for over 10 years. Senior defenseman Oscar Arfelt (Stockholm, Sweden/Connecticut Oilers (EHL)) was also named First Team All-Conference, finishing the year with five goals and a team-leading 23 assists, was second on the team with 28 points and third in blocked shots.

Senior goaltender Tyler Feaver (Whitby, Ont./Whitby Fury (OJHL))was an All-conference First Team selection as well, finishing his final regular-season with 10 wins. The senior posted a goals against average of 2.86 and had a save percentage of .895. This season, Feaver set the Valiants’ all-time record for saves and minutes played.

Junior forward Kenny McLean (New Rochelle, N.Y./New York Bobcats (EHL)) was named Second Team All-Conference, finishing with nine goals and 11 assists on the season, good for fourth on the team with 20 points. Senior forward Bryan Platt (Trumbull, Conn./Springfield Pics (USPHL)) was named as an Honorable Mention, picking up three goals, 15 assists and 18 points on the year.

Following a 5-2 victory over Lebanon Valley College in the United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) quarterfinal, the Valiants now head to Elmira College for a semifinal series with the Soaring Eagles, with game one scheduled for Friday, Feb. 22 at 7 p.m.
