ELMIRA, N.Y. – Four different players scored goals as the nationally fifth-ranked Elmira women’s ice hockey team defeated Cortland, 4-0, in the ECAC West opener for both schools Saturday afternoon. The Red Dragons fell to 0-3 overall on the season, while the Soaring Eagles improved to 2-0-1.

Freshman goaltender Deanna Meunier (Parsippany, NJ/New Jersey Rockets) stopped 39 shots for Cortland. Her counterpart in goal for Elmira, Lauren Sullivan, registered seven saves in posting the shutout.

Olivia Nystrom recorded a goal and an assist for the Soaring Eagles, and Tanis Lamoureux, Ashton Hogan and Audrey Juneau each tallied a goal. Brooke Wilgosh collected two assists, while Cassidy Delainey and Katie Gaskin chipped in with one assist apiece.

Juneau scored what proved to be the game-winner with just one minute, 41 seconds remaining in the opening period. Hogan made it a 2-0 game at 13:34 of the second period. Nystrom made it a 3-0 game at 4:49 of the third period, and Lamoureux clinched the win with her score at 12:01 of the third.
