Elmira College’s Devyn Gilman Wins Another UCHC Rookie of the Week Award

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — For the second time this season, Elmira College’s Devyn Gilman ’21 has garnered United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) Rookie of the of the Week accolades, as announced by the league office on Tuesday morning.

Gilman, a first-year forward from Yorba Linda, California, helped the No. 1/2 Soaring Eagles split a pair of games at the ultra-competitive East-West Hockey Classic. EC opened the tournament, which featured the top four teams in the country, with a 5-1 victory over then-No. 4/4 Adrian College on Sunday, before falling to No. 2/3 Plattsburgh State, 3-0, in the championship game on Monday evening.

In the win over the Bulldogs, Gilman led all point-getters with a season-high-tying three points. The rookie scored Elmira’s first goal in the second period to level the score at 1-all and spark what became a 5-0 run by the Soaring Eagles to end the contest. She picked up her two assists in the third period, earning the second assist on a Maddy Jerolman ’19 tally at the 8:30 mark and the primary helper on a goal off the stick of Shannon Strawinski ’19 with 1:14 remaining in regulation.

The multi-point effort was the sixth of the season for Gilman, who is tied for the team lead with 12 assists and ranks third with 17 points. Among national leaders, she paces all rookies in points per game (1.42) and is tied for seventh in assists per game (1.00).
