ECAC Men’s Hockey Playoffs Set

CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. — The ECAC Hockey men’s regular-season has come and gone, and the 2022 playoffs are now on the horizon. 12 teams will all compete for a chance to hoist the coveted Whitelaw Cup at championship weekend in Lake Placid, N.Y.

For the second consecutive season, and sixth time in program history, Quinnipiac have earned the title for Cleary Cup champions, boasting the best record in the regular-season and therefore earning the No. 1 seed in the playoffs. The Bobcats will receive a bye in the first round, along with No. 2 Clarkson, No. 3 Harvard, and No. 4 Cornell. 

The first round of the playoffs will commence next weekend, with the 5-8 seeds hosting the 9-12 seeds in a best-of-three game series. Matchups for those series are below:

No. 12 Yale at No. 5 Colgate

No. 11 Dartmouth at No. 6 RPI

No. 10 Princeton at No. 7 Union

Messa Rink / Schenectady, N.Y.

No. 9 Brown at No. 8 St. Lawrence

Appleton Arena / Canton, N.Y.

Friday, 03.04 — 7 pm

Sunday, 03.06 — 4 pm (if necessary)

The advancing teams will be re-seeded, and travel to the 1-4 seeds for best-of-three game quarterfinal series. The four teams that advance out of that weekend will travel to Lake Placid, N.Y. for ECAC Hockey championship weekend.
