CRUNCH ROLL TO THREE WINS IN WEEK 7
The Crunch scored 15 goals in three games-all wins-to push their winning streak to four and points streak to seven (6-0-1-0). Syracuse (8-5-1-0) has surged up to fourth in the North Division with 17 points and their 0.607 points percentage is second in the division.
The Crunch rallied from 2-0 down to defeat the Binghamton Devils, 5-2, to open the week last Wednesday. Syracuse followed that with a 4-0 shutout win in Utica Friday and then the Crunch overcame another two-goal deficit in a 6-4 win over Laval Saturday.
The Crunch play three games in Week 8, starting with a pair of games against Binghamton Wednesday and Friday. The Crunch visit Springfield Saturday.
Rookie forward Taylor Raddysh’s point streak has extended to nine games after he logged a goal and two assists over three games in Week 7. Beginning on Oct. 26, Raddysh has recorded 11 points (6g, 5a) over nine games. His points streak is tied for both the longest active and overall streak in the AHL this season.
Since the 2005-06 season, only four Crunch rookies have had a nine-game scoring streak. Nikita Kucherov (2013-14) is the only other Lightning prospect to pull it off, but he and Raddysh are joined by Kyle Palmieri (2010-11) and Derick Brassard (2007-08).
Cory Conacher paced the AHL in scoring last week, logging seven points (2g, 5a) with three multi-point games. Conacher, 28, is on a six-game scoring streak (6g, 8a), including five multi-point performances (four in a row).
In his fourth season with the Crunch, Conacher has 17 points (7g, 10a) in 10 games; he is second in the league in scoring since Oct. 20, when he played his first game of the season for the Crunch.
The Crunch have scored power-play goals in the last four games, going 11-for-22 (50.0%) since Nov. 11. After going over five years between instances of scoring four power-play goals in a game, the Crunch have done it twice in the last four games. This is the first time the Crunch have scored 11 man-advantage goals in a four-game stretch since Feb. 10-17, 2006 (11-for-41).
The Crunch have the league’s top ranked power play at home (17-for-53; 32.1%) and overall (23-for-77; 29.9%).
The Crunch twice rallied from two-goal deficits to win games in Week 7. Against Binghamton Wednesday night, the Crunch trailed 2-0 before scoring five unanswered goals in a 5-2 win. Saturday against Laval, the Rocket led 3-1 before Syracuse rattled off five straight goals to win 6-4.
Syracuse has scored at least four-straight goals in each of the last four games since Nov. 11. The Crunch have done it six time in 14 games this season, including in five of the last six games.
UPCOMING: BINGHAMTON, SPRINGFIELD
The Crunch have three games sandwiched around Thanksgiving in Week 8.
Syracuse plays a home-and-home series with the Devils, starting Wednesday in Binghamton and concluding Friday at home. After a 5-2 win over the Devils last week, the Crunch have two wins in two games against Binghamton, outscoring the Devils, 9-2. The Crunch are 9-2-0-1 against the Devils since they moved to Binghamton prior to last season. The Devils (8-7-3-0) are third in the division with 19 points.
Saturday, the Crunch make their first trip to Springfield to battle the Thunderbirds. Springfield has won back-to-back games and is third in the Atlantic Division with 20 points (9-4-0-2). Springfield has collected a point in seven of its eight home games this season (6-1-0-1). Last season, the Crunch won both matches against the Thunderbirds, including a 3-2 overtime win in their only trip to Springfield March 16.
