Sophomore Corey Temple (Troy, MI/Ohio Flames) scored early in the third period as the Cortland women’s ice hockey team skated to a come-from-behind, 2-1, victory at Neumann University Friday night in ECAC West action. The Red Dragons improved to 2-5-2 overall and 1-3-1 in the conference, while the Knights fell to 1-8 and 0-5.

Sophomore Niamh O’Connor (Paramus, NJ/New Jersey Rockets) also netted a goal for Cortland with senior Gina Tomei (Bronx/Sound Shore Warriors), sophomore Katie Gili (Brooklyn/New Jersey Rockets) and freshman Josie Fletcher (Wasilla, AK/Alaska All-Stars) each collecting an assist. Sophomore goalie Deanna Meunier (Parsippany, NJ/New Jersey Rockets) stopped 44 shots.

Amanda Simpson scored for Neumann. Meghan Power and Megan Russelo recorded assists. Goalie Julia Fair made 14 saves.

Neumann took a quick 1-0 lead when Simpson scored just 21 seconds into the game. O’Connor tied the game at 7:32 of the second, and Temple netted the game-winner at 3:46 of the third. The Knights pulled Fair for an extra skater late in the game but could not score the equalizer.
