Cortland Holds Off Potsdam Comeback To Win 5-3

CORTLAND, N.Y. – The Cortland women’s ice hockey team built a 5-0 lead early into the third period and held off a Potsdam comeback to register a 5-3 win in ECAC West action Saturday afternoon at Alumni Arena. The Red Dragons evened their overall record at 6-6-1 and improved to 2-5-1 in the conference with their fifth straight victory. The Bears fell to 5-10-2 and 1-9-1.

Junior Sydney Carlucci (Baldwinsville/Rochester Edge) netted a pair of goals for Cortland. Seniors Maggie Corbett (Queensbury/Queensbury H.S.), Laura Drew (Andover, MA/Canterbury School) and Niamh O’Connor (Paramus, NJ/New Jersey Rockets) each added a goal and an assist, while seniors Corey Temple (Troy, MI/Ohio Flames) and Kaitlyn Ryan (Windsor/Adrian College) collected two assists apiece. Senior goalie Deanna Meunier (Parsippany, NJ/New Jersey Rockets) made 23 saves.

Juniors Kaylen Van Wagner (Red Hook/Hotchkiss Prep), Amanda Peterson (West Chazy/Chazy Flyers) and Jordan Ott (Hilton/Rochester Edge) scored goals for Potsdam. Senior Sally Mooney (New Albany, OH/Wyoming Seminary) registered two assists. Junior goalie Abby Tardelli (Potsdam/North Country Ice Storm) recorded 21 saves.
