HAMILTON – Junior Tylor Spink tallied his fourth goal of the season, but Ryan Bliss scored 57 seconds into overtime to lift Cornell to a 2-1 victory over No. 17 Colgate in ECAC Hockey action Friday at Starr Rink.

Playing in front out a sold-out crowd, Spink opened the scoring 51 seconds into the second period on a feed from junior Kyle Baun, but the Big Red evened the score at 1-1 early in the third period on a goal from John Knisley to send the game into overtime.

In the extra session, Bliss fired a shot from the left point that deflected off a Colgate defender and into the back of the cage for the decisive tally.

Sophomore Mitch Gillam made 20 saves in goal for Cornell while his counterpart, sophomore Charlie Finn, turned aside 24 shots for the Raiders.

How It Happened
– After a scoreless first period, Tylor Spink staked Colgate to a 1-0 lead just 51 seconds into the second period. Junior Kyle Baun started the play by creating a turnover in the Cornell zone as the Big Red was looking to head up ice. Baun then found Spink alone in the slot, where he placed a wrist shot over the glove hand of Gillam and under the cross bar to give the Raiders a 1-0 lead.
– Cornell tied the game at 1-1 when Knisley notched his fourth goal of the season at the 5:06 mark of the third period, knocking home a loose puck just inside the right post after his initial shot during a 1-on-1 break was stopped by Finn. Teemu Tiltinen was credited with the lone assist on the play.
– Bliss notched the decisive marker for the visitors just 57 seconds into overtime when his shot from the left point deflected off a Colgate defender and into the back of the net. Jeff Kubiak and Joakim Ryan were credited with assists on the game-winning goal.
