USA Hockey to Participate in Congressional Briefing Thursday on Capitol Hill
Executive Director Dave Ogrean to Be Part of Distinguished Panel

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Dave Ogrean, executive director of USA Hockey, will join Gary Bettman, commissioner of the National Hockey League, and Dick Patrick, president of the NHL’s Washington Capitals, on Thursday (March 2) for a panel discussion before members of Congress and their staffs titled “Hockey as a Community: Creating positive change through the power of the sport in and around the communities it serves.”

The event, slated to begin at 12:30 p.m. ET in room 2253 of the Rayburn House Office Building on Capitol Hill, is being hosted by the bipartisan Congressional Hockey Caucus, including co-chairs Reps. Pat Meehan (R-Pa.), Mike Quigley (D-Ill.), Erik Paulsen (R-Minn.) and Brian Higgins (D-N.Y.). Dave Fischer from USA Hockey will serve as moderator.

Thursday evening the scene will shift to the Kettler Capitals Iceplex in Arlington, Virginia, practice home of the Washington Capitals, for the ninth annual Congressional Hockey Challenge. The event — a friendly, but competitive ice hockey game pitting Lawmakers against Lobbyists — will faceoff at 7 p.m., with proceeds benefiting the NHL scholarship of the Thurgood Marshall College Fund, Fort Dupont Ice Hockey Club and USA Warriors Ice Hockey.
