Colgate’s Young Garners ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Month

ALBANY, N.Y. – Behind a team-high of eight points by four goals and four assists in the month of January, first-year Alex Young has been named ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Month.
 
Player of the Month: Odeen Tufto (Quinnipiac)
MAC Goaltending Goalie of the Month: Ethan Haider (Clarkson)
Adirondack Health Rookie of the Month: Alex Young (Colgate)
 
A native of Calgary, Alberta, Young’s offense produced three multi-point performances, while he enters February on a three-game active point streak. On Jan. 9, the forward recorded the first game-winning goal of his career in a 4-2 win at St. Lawrence.
 
On the season, Young tops the team with his 12 points by five goals and seven assists, made possible by four multi-point performances. Regularly being recognized by the league, Young was also recently named ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Week on Jan. 25 behind a five-point weekend, after being named ECAC Hockey Third Star of the Week for his performance in nonconference play on Nov. 23.

Young and the Colgate men’s hockey squad resumes ECAC play on Thursday, Feb. 4. The game kicks off a series at No. 13 Clarkson, before returning home to host the Golden Knights on Saturday, Feb. 6.
