Colgate Women’s Ice Hockey Moves Up To 8th Spot In USCHO Poll

HAMILTON – The Colgate women’s ice hockey team has moved up in the USCHO.com Division I Women’s Poll as the Raiders are ranked No. 8 in the national poll for Oct. 9.

Colgate is one of three ECAC Hockey teams ranked in the USCHO Top 10 behind No. 2 Clarkson and No. 4 St. Lawrence.

The Raiders are coming off an impressive weekend where they swept the St. Cloud State Huskies with 3-0 and 5-0 wins as they climb to their highest national ranking of the season.

Goaltender Liz Auby (Stoughton, Wisconsin) recorded back-to-back shutouts to open the season and extended her personal shutout streak to three games, setting the program’s Division I program record. Auby also has a consecutive shutout minutes streak at 200:19, also a Division I program record.

Offensively, the Raiders had seven different goal scorers this weekend led by Jessie Eldridge (Barrie, Ontario) with two goals while fellow linemate Annika Zalewski (New Hartford, New York) had three assists to lead the team in points.

First-year Malia Schneider (Millarville, Ontario) recorded the first two points of her career with a goal and an assist Saturday afternoon. Seven different players recorded two points in the opening weekend for the Raiders.

The Raiders return to action this weekend as they host the nationally ranked No. 6 Northeastern Huskies in a two-game series on Saturday at 6 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. It will be Colgate’s first Top 10 matchup of the season.
